Steve Tibbettes – 1981

“Nommos,” (takoma TAK 7096) by Craig Leon. Leon a producer who has handled, among others, the Ramones, creates a marvelous percussion orientated format that incorporates all the best elements of minimalistic music and ignites them with just enough melodic purposefulness to sustain listener interest. This is meditative music with a unique tribal pulse that coaxes rather than commands attention. Leon’s themes may seem overly repetitious to some tastes, but space-music devotees will appreciate the challenge.
